About

M-KOS was founded by Miwa Kojima and Oli Sorenson in 2011, shortly after both relocated from London (UK) to Montreal (Canada).

M-KOS showcase contemporary art from local (Montreal), regional (Quebec / Canada) as well as worldwide events and institutions. Our goals are not only to cover and spark trends in global art markets, but also to provide comprehensive and up-to-date information on as many art related topics as possible, from an editorial perspective.

Our achievements are measured by their ability to stimulate artistic discourses on a international level, and by the amount of attention we provide to our current place of residence, which sometimes changes due to travel opportunities.

Miwa Kojima Managing editor
Miwa Kojima was born in Tokyo, Japan and has lived in London for 20 years. She holds a Master’s degree in Sculpture at Slade School of Fine Art and also studied Business in Visual Art at City University in London. Kojima worked as an artist, as co-director for an artists-run-centre, as curator and art educator for Whitechapel Art Gallery, Chelsea Future Space, South Bank Centre, Zoo Art Fair and more. Kojima currently dedicates her time to M-KOS as well as other digital/print publishing projects.

Oli Sorenson Editor-in-chief
Oli Sorenson was born in Los Angeles, California. He hold a BFA in painting, a Master’s in interactive media at UQAM (Montreal) and is currently pursuing a PhD in interdisciplinary Humanities at Concordia University. When based in London between 1999-2010, he traveled worldwide as an Audiovisual artist. As a curator he helped shape the UK’s audiovisual art scene by organising events and conferences at Tate Britain, the British Film Institute, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and more. Sorenson is currently dividing his time between M-KOS and continuing his visual artist production.
